Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, is an ancient rock fortress located in the Matale District in central Sri Lanka. The site is surrounded by the remains of beautiful gardens, reservoirs, and other ancient structures. Sigiriya is famous for its well-preserved fresco paintings, which are often compared to those found in the Ajanta Caves. It was built during the reign of King Kashyapa I and is recognized as one of the country's UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
